The Scottish Jazz Federation was set up in 2005 to represent the needs of the jazz community in Scotland. We became a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) on 2nd May 2013. Our Charity number is: SC043990 and our accounting reference date is 31 March.
Our main funder is Creative Scotland(www.creativescotland.com).
The SJF aims are:
- To work towards developing jazz in Scotland: Specifically, to benefit the public by increasing the availability of high quality jazz music and education in Scotland and the level of participation as players, learners and listeners.
- To represent the interests of Scottish jazz: We aim to become the recognised representative body for Scottish jazz artists, educators and promoters; able to lobby policy-makers, co-ordinate action and deliver definitive research.

JOIN OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Scottish Jazz Federation SCIO can have three directors plus nine members at one time and minimum of 5 for a quorum. We are always seeking potential, new members to join our board from all sectors. The position is voluntary an would be for a term of 3 years. The board meet in Edinburgh and Glasgow 4 - 5 times a year, starting with an AGM (next AGM May 2014).
The trust aims to reflect the jazz community with a minimum of two members from a wide geographical spread who are specialists in Performance (jazz musicians), Jazz education, Concert going and concert promotion. As per our SCIO Consitution, all professional Jazz musicians currently on our board have been nominated for election to the board by a group of their peers.
